Second Annual Gracie's Heart 75+ Mile Walk-A-Thon

Tom hand carved a walking stick to give to Kate - founder of the Gracie's Heart Pediatric Charity and mother to Gracie who passed away because of a mis-diagnosis.
An emotional moment at the begining of the walk.

Tom got the grotesque job of draining my blisters!

Getting ready to walk the Mac. Bridge!

Finish Line!!!
Aside from the two of us, there was only one other lady to complete the entire walk. We walked at a rate of 4 -4.5 mph the entire walk. It was a totally AWESOME!!

Tom and I with some of Gracie's family. The guy standing to my right was taken off life support 11 years ago because the doctors said he had no hope of survival. He went through years of not even recognizing his family (suffered a brain injury in a car accident) and this was the first time trying an endurance event. He did extremely well considering and walked about a third or so of the way...his family was astonished, as we all were.

My Day on the Farm!

Friday I got to spend a day experiencing Veterinary work and
farm life. It was a really neat and interesting experience...totally awesome day!

Gathering the cattle into the holding pen.

Ryan guarding the gate to stop the cattle from trying to jump it. You will notice the dip in the gate infront of Ryan which happened when one of the cattle tried to bolt during the TB testing.

My job was to mix the drugs and load the syringes as well as fill out paperwork and write the requiered info on the blood tubes that needed to be sent to the lab.

You can just see the excitment written across their faces! ;-))

My buddy, Ferdinand! ;-))

Ryan, Jeff, and Tom

Yummmmm!!

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with foot problems!

Poor baby's not having a good day :-(

Tom bandaging the hoof up nice 'n pretty!

Ouchie!! :-(

Yes, I did get to experience this flung in my face (mouth included!)...sorry, I think everone was too busy laughing to take a pic!

Dennis and Roger hauling in the hay from the fields.

Tom talking to his dad about where to put the feeder for the calves this winter. His dad was doing a bit better with communication for a spell that afternoon, so Tom asked him if he wanted to ride down and see the farm. So, he lifted him into his truck and took him down there for a bit.
