5K Race for Breast Cancer Awarness at MSU

Well, I survived my first race!!! I've never been a runner and only started training for running 2 weeks ago. I tried throwing out every excuse in the book on how I can't run, however, when your partner doesn't believe in the word "can't", excuses are only met with "suck it up and quit whining!" (not exact words used, but an accurate interpretation).
I did this run with my partners that I did the 80 mile walk-a-thon with last summer, Tom, Sue, and Cheryl (Sue's friend who did parts of the walk with us), and then two of Sue's daughters. It was Cheryl's first race as well, so at least I wasn't the only race rookie!
Tom and I made it in 30 minutes and placed 17th and 18th, I'm sure Tom could have easily beat that time, but he was nice and stuck by me so I didn't have to run alone or with strangers through Lansing. Sue had been a bit ahead of Tom and me, but had been mis-directed and ended up running an extra mile out of the way and then Cheryl decided to run half and then walk half, so they came in a bit later. Sue's daughters were one of the firsts to arrive at the finish line.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a group pic and only had my camera out for a minute while we were at Sue's daughter's college pad, so I only got a few pics of Tom, Cheryl and myself as Sue and her daughters were in another part of the house getting ready.
We all went out to dinner that evening and then Sue, Cheryl, Tom and I went shopping at the mall ( well...Tom endured it...lol) It was an awesome day and I'm glad I decided to do it! You never know what you can do until you try! Now I'm looking forward to racing in a 10K!
Me!
